Scottish-based Complete Storage & Interiors Ltd provided storage solutions for the New Tate Modern which is due to open to the public this week. For the fit-out, storage experts at CSI used Dexion Hi280 shelving for its versatility and capabilities. Dexion Hi280 shelving is ideal for the variety of goods and equipment required to be kept in the many store areas throughout the new building.
CSI designed layouts for the shelving installation, completed pre site surveys and provided detailed specification to the Tate Modern prior to installation. To ensure that the project would be completed within a tight schedule, the installation was fast-tracked.
The storage solution team at CSI opted for Dexion Hi280 shelving, an efficient and adjustable shelving system which is easy to install and adjust, providing maximum stability while space is used in an optimal way. It is available for a wide range of applications and can be customised for individual requirements.
“It has been a great experience to be involved with such an iconic building,” said Robert Kennedy, Managing Director at CSI. He adds, “We look forward to continuing our work in the museum and galleries sector and providing specialist storage solutions for unusual objects and interesting locations.”
Based in the former Bankside Power Station in London, the Tate Modern is one of the largest museums of modern and contemporary art in the world. The art gallery originally opened in May 2000 and has since attracted five million visitors a year. The new building, which features a twisting, pyramid-like shape, was designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron. It will provide 60% more space for visitors to explore and will open to the public on Friday, 17 June 2016.
