Franks International

CSI design, supply and install warehouse upgrade for engineering firm Frank’s International.

In business for over 75 years, Frank’s International have become global leaders in the supply of high quality engineered tubular services to the offshore and onshore oil and gas industry. Employing more than 4,000 people worldwide, they are constantly pioneering and innovative in the solutions they provide in serving some of the deepest wells ever drilled, as well as some of the deepest deepwater drills ever drilled.

After providing specifications for their existing racking system, CSI were invited to quote against Frank’s International’s current racking and shelving supplier for the chance to modernise the storage system of their entire facility. The storage system installed had to provide more storage within the same space, as well as being able to cope with higher loads so that Frank’s could store the materials for new and existing contracts.

CSI reviewed what was being stored in the warehouse and identified potential areas that could be upgraded by holding several meetings with Frank’s International’s operations and warehouse managers. Following on from this analysis, CAD drawings were provided for the entire site upgrade to help Frank’s International visualise the plan for their facility.

The final installation included Dexion P90 standard wide aisle racking, constructed with P100 uprights. This provided a stronger system that could support heavy loads of over 21,000kg per bay, allowing Frank’s to store equipment that had previously been kept on the ground or outside. Dexion heavy duty cantilever racking with a 3,000kg capacity per arm with two levels for every row of racking provided storage for the client’s longer materials. For Frank’s smaller parts, 26 bays of Dexion standard Hi280 shelving were supplied. The entire storage system was planned to give the best possible benefit to the client’s warehouse logistics and could be used both internally and externally due to a pre-galvanised finish. To provide further protection from the elements, canopies were fitted over any external racking or shelving. For safety, end barriers and column guards were fitted on all bays to comply with SEMA regulations.

CSI worked closely with Frank’s throughout the duration of the installation to ensure their warehouse was still operational, minimising the disruption to their business.
