Subsea 7

CSI help Subsea 7 to upgrade and streamline their warehouse operations with customised storage solution.

Subsea 7 S.A. research and develop subsea engineering, construction and services for the oil and gas industry worldwide. Specialising in seabed to surface engineering and construction, Subsea offer technical solutions that enable the completion of complex projects in all water depths and harsh environments.

Due to expansion, Subsea 7 were upgrading their existing warehouse facility and required an increase in their overall storage capacity. Any installation would need to take place within a very limited footprint due to space issues, while also being designed around their existing racking system and laydown area. After impressing the client with several other completed projects, CSI were directly contacted by Subsea 7 to provide a solution.

In order to understand their precise storage requirements, CSI held several meetings with Subsea 7 and conducted site surveys and storage audits analysing the available space and measuring the dimensions of the items to be stored. For aesthetic reasons, Subsea 7 stipulated that they required Dexion Speedlock Mk3 pallet racking to match their current racking system. Due to the limited space, CSI designed several layouts of the racking so that Subsea 7 could choose which one they thought best suited their storage and workflow requirements.

The chosen system encompassed 24 bays of Speedlock Mk3 racking with a loading capacity of 3 tonnes per level and 9 tonnes per bay. Column guards and end barriers were fitted to the racking to comply with SEMA codes of practice, promote safety and provide a long-life system. The dimensions of the racking were tailored to suit the products stored so as to achieve maximum storage capacity while fitting correctly in the available space.
